COVID-19 Update – June 16, 2022 – Health Professionals COVID-19 Vaccination Status Information and Preventive Measures Update

Please note the following COVID-19 update for June 16, 2022:

The Provincial Health Officer has updated the Health Professionals COVID-19 Vaccination Status Information and Preventive Measures Order – June 10, 2022 to enable post-secondary institutions (PSI) requiring information from the health profession regulatory colleges (regulatory colleges) about the vaccination status of registrants applying for admission to, or enrolled in, a health science program, so that regulatory colleges could provide the vaccination status to the PSI for those students who need to be registered with a regulatory college in order to enroll in a program e.g. medical students, mid-wives.

The following are the changes that relate to PSIs:

  • Clarifies the definition of vaccine card to include the rules about providing proof of vaccination for people vaccinated outside Canada, including people who are planning to come into Canada.
  • The collection of vaccination status information by the regulatory colleges is now an ongoing requirement.
  • Enables the University of British Columbia to request that the College of Physicians and Surgeons provide vaccination status of resident physicians and fellows to UBC, in preparation for them to start their programs July 1, 2022.

(Authority is delegated by the PHO to the colleges to enable these disclosures.)

  • Authority for the PHO and MHOs to request vaccination status information from the colleges is retained.

Thank you for the important role you play in supporting the provincial COVID-19 response.  Please share this update broadly within your respective institutions.
